<p>Use the pre-topic diagnostic assessment before teaching the Year 5 addition and subtraction block of work to gain a baseline understanding of your pupils’ knowledge.</p>

<p>Post-topic diagnostic assessments can be used at the end of the place value block to identify your pupils’ progress.</p>
